Counter-Strike "2"

What Kind of Game Is It?

Well, Counter-Strike 2 is nothing more than CSGO on steroids when it comes to graphics. The game itself didn’t change much compared to its predecessor; it was just a big graphics update and nothing more. Some of the movement, physics, and weapons changed, making some people mad and claim that they miss the previous game in the state that it was, and complain a lot.

Out of Nowhere

The update to Source Engine 2 was a big rumor within the community for a long time, although it was released to some people with no warning — no trailer, no notification — nothing was sent to players.

Some pro players and streamers got access to it beforehand, of course, and they gave a glimpse of what the rest of the player base could expect from the game. Access was given slowly between players until CSGO was completely replaced with CS2. The game had a lot of bugs and poor performance. Constant updates improved the quality of the game, but it still has a lot of room for improvement.

Gameplay State

The game still feels weird despite the number of updates it has received since release. Many people complain about the bullet registration, missing shots that weren’t supposed to miss. The mechanics changed compared to CSGO, with big changes in movement and gunfights — something people complain about the most.

Many people, especially in Brazil, complained a lot about the performance of the game. They managed to get playable FPS counts only on the map Mirage and suffered huge drops on other maps in CSGO. With the release of CS2, they can’t play at all due to hardware limitations, and that made many players drop the game completely.

It needs to fix performance and needs more improvements so players can enjoy playing and attract more people back to it. The competitive scenario looks the same, with teams like Vitality, Navi, and Faze dominating. Some players increased their stats in this game, while others declined a little, but not much.

Difficulty and Experience

The main problem with this game at the moment is the number of cheaters, which makes it seem like Valve doesn’t give a fuck about them. There are cheaters everywhere who manage not to get banned, even without trying to hide it.

The community remains as toxic as ever, with the majority of players thinking that’s a good thing. They don’t like other communities, like the ones from Valorant. They curse and share a lot of unwanted information during matches — this when they are not crying about the game and calling everyone bad or a cheater (most of the time, it is, in fact, a cheater).

They changed how the ranked system works; now players have a rating alongside their rank. Many cheaters cross the 25,000-point rating, which is crazy. People can still be carried to the top, either with the help of cheats or friends with higher ranks who queue with them.

What I Think of the Game

Well, I dropped the competitive mode of CS a long time ago, even before the new one was released. I only enter the game as a distraction and play only Deathmatch mode so the time can pass. My cousins and friends still play the game normally, while I don’t.

I don’t feel motivated to get back into competitive mode. For me, just killing player after player after their respawn in DM until the match is over is enough. The game would need to change a lot for me to change my view about it. Until then, I’ll keep things simple and avoid stress and cheaters in ranked mode.

Should You Try It?

I wouldn’t recommend this game to anyone unless they crave to play an online FPS game badly. You can play other stuff like Marvel Rivals, Valorant, Rainbow Six Siege, or any other games with fewer cheaters.

I would wait for more updates and see what the game can become in the future. Even if I recommended people to try it, they would definitely get frustrated with the number of cheaters and the game’s performance, so… yeah, avoid it for now.
